[Correspondence] Women with obstetric fistula in Somalia deserve better

Obstetric fistula is a devastating morbidity that rightly merits investigation and advocacy, as attempted in the World Report by Clotilde Bigot.1 However, we are dismayed by the quality of this reporting, which did not fact check the claims of its single source. The report does not meet the rigorous editorial standards that we expect from The Lancet. It does a disservice to vulnerable women who have obstetric fistula in Somalia and beyond.
