Houston's 132-year-old Kirby mansion demolished, may become gas station

Houston's historic Kirby Mansion, a Tudor Revival gem, was abruptly leveled after city inspectors stopped renovation efforts over permit issues. Despite being well-maintained, the new owner proceeded with the demolition unauthorized, leading to outcry from preservationists. The community mourned the mansion with a vigil, pressing for policy reforms and alluding to a gas station development that might replace the beloved site.
