Glacier cliffs retreated faster than predicted, then stabilised, study finds

Recent research reveals that Antarctica's glaciers are retreating at a faster pace than earlier predictions had estimated. By analyzing over 15,000 satellite images, scientists focused on the stability of ice cliffs. While some cliffs showed signs of quick retreat, they later stabilized instead of collapsing completely. Factors like water depth and the shape of the underlying bedrock significantly influence glacier stability.
